Joint Pain is something that often comes along as we age, when our joints start to give up, and gradually the pain starts to grow. Of all the seasons, it is winters that are known to cause maximum damage to the joints. This is mainly due to external cold and dryness which amplifies the problem and makes it difficult for us to bear the associated swelling and pain. Also, it is usually during this shift of weather that the symptoms of possible arthritis may start to surface.

This is an age-old and time-tested herbal preparation, and something which Ayurveda absolutely recommends, especially in case of joint pains. Triphala is a mix of three incredibly healthy herbs viz. Harad, Baheda and Amla. And this is a great source of antioxidants and detoxifying agents. Guggulu, a gum resin obtained from Myrrh, adds an extra share of anti-inflammatory benefits to the combination. These, along with polyphenols and flavonoids, act against the inflammation causing agents, thus relieving joint pains.
Boswellia serrata is basically the gum resin extracted from Boswellia tree. It combats a variety of inflammatory issues in our body, and research swears by its contribution in treating some of the severest cases of arthritis.
One of the most obvious must haves in our diet, calcium is also recommended to be taken as an essential supplement in order to make up for any possible lack of this particular nutrient in our body. A calcium deficiency has maximum chances of making us prone to many bones and joint related issues. Therefore, make sure to add dark green, leafy vegetables, low-fat milk, cheese and other dairy products to your diet. On the other hand, you need to ensure that your body is absorbing that calcium. That’s why it is important to sunbathe and include sufficient vitamin D in our everyday diet.
A chemical compound that is found in our body, glucosamine is something that naturally contributes in building and taking care of the cartilage, which provides natural cushioning between our joint bones. With age, however, the amount of glucosamine our body creates becomes insufficient, and that is when there comes a need for us to look for supplements. Adding sufficient glucosamine levels help in easing the pain and the subsequent stiffness of the joints.
Sufficient inclusion of this fish oil in our diet helps in maintaining healthy, supple joints. A great source of omega-3 fatty acids, Salmon oil reduces the inflammation and therefore, any possible progression of joint pains and arthritis. Complimented with regular exercise, the salmon oil also ensures ample flow of blood to our joints and maintains their overall health and mobility.
